Yi Bell

The “faith bell” is designed like the two-tone bell unearthed in the tomb of Marquis Yi in 1978. This reproduction has been cast using a newly designed copper alloy containing magnesium, and exhibits unique vibrational properties from the bell design and temperature effects. At room temperature, the bell heavily-damps vibrations, giving a dull sound when struck, as though it were made of wood. After heating with an alcohol burner for several minutes, the bell no longer damps vibrations well, and when struck, rings vibrantly.
